Why Workato: eSystems' Partnership With the Leading IPaaS Platform

In this post, we'd like to offer some well-deserved plaudits for excellence in the iPaaS (integration platform as a service) industry:

  • Congratulations to eSystems partner Workato for clenching 1st place in Gartner's "Voice of the Customer" peer review for iPaaS!
  • And congratulations to eSystems for winning the Workato 2021 Innovation Excellence Award!

With that level of combined excellence, it's no wonder that the Workato/eSystems collaboration is making its mark in the iPaaS industry. Let's take a look at why that's so.

What is Workato?

Workato is recognized as the leading Enterprise Automation Platform. Not only were they named a 2021 Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice for iPaaS, they were the only Customers' Choice for iPaaS in North America.

But why are Workato and the awards it's received important? Perhaps the best place to start in answering that question is with Gartner's definition of iPaaS:

"An integration platform as a service (iPaaS) solution provides capabilities to enable subscribers to implement data, application, API and process integration projects involving any combination of cloud-resident and on-premises endpoints. This is achieved by developing, deploying, executing, managing and monitoring integration processes/flows that connect multiple endpoints so that they can work together."

According to CEO Vijay Tella, Workato is a low-code/no-code iPaaS platform that enables customers to integrate their applications, automate business workflows, and drive smart business outcomes in real time and at scale. By its use of low-code and machine learning techniques, Workato allows users to create and deploy business process automations up to 10 times faster than they could with traditional software development methods.

The defining feature of the Workato iPaaS user experience is that it requires no coding, and is extremely agile. Users can conceive, create, and deploy automations in just days rather than months.

How Workato earned its recognition

Gartner determines the recipients of its Customers' Choice for iPaaS awards by tallying all customer reviews of iPaaS offerings received through its Peer Insights portal over a 12-month period. Only those vendors that achieve a rating of at least 4.5 out of 5 are even eligible to be considered for the award. In that rarified atmosphere, Workato was the only vendor in North America to merit the award, and was one of only two worldwide.

Perhaps that's not so surprising in light of the fact that 97% of Workato customers told Gartner that they would recommend the platform to other customers. In fact, most reviews were highly positive.

For example, Carlos Santos, Lead E-Commerce Support at the Jumia Group, gave Workato a rating of 10 out of 10. He commented,

The interface is brilliant… It's intuitive (very simple to learn and use) and robust (I can't remember any recent issues with the interface).

Workato support is top notch. If you do have an issue or question, they're always available for a workshop, call, email or chat, and issues get tackled. Technical issues, however, are very rare, the platform is very robust and we can count on it for important functions.

Eric Hansen, Enterprise Architect at Workday calls Workato his "desert island" integration tool:

In a "desert island" scenario where if I had to pick one tool, it would be Workato. Not because it can do everything; because of the vast amount of things it's capable of, it does them exceedingly well. Making a powerful-but-approachable tool available to our workforce is key to scaling because we are empowered to do more with less.

That kind of response to Workato is not at all unique. Based on 60 ratings, Workato was the only iPaaS vendor to achieve the highest ratings: 4.8/5 for product capabilities, and 4.7/5 for service and support.

Why Workato beats Boomi

At one time, Boomi was considered the class of the iPaaS platform field. But that time has passed. Although Boomi remains popular with some users, after more than 20 years on the market many customers have publicly declared their belief that it's "past its prime" and no longer up to modern standards.

When Gartner compared customer ratings of Workato and Boomi, based on verified reviews from real users in the Enterprise iPaaS market, the results were stark. On a wide range of issues, including product capabilities, pricing flexibility, and service and support, customers uniformly rated Workato ahead of Boomi. In fact, while 97% of customers told Gartner they would recommend Workato, only 86% would do so with Boomi.

The result of this ongoing reassessment in the iPaaS space is that Workato is now the #1 choice of customers, while Boomi has slipped to #10. That, perhaps, is why Dell, which acquired Boomi in 2010, is now in the process of divesting it.

The fact is, Boomi's future is increasingly uncertain, while that of Workato has never been brighter.

How Workato and eSystems work together

eSystems is, quite simply, the best low-code house in the Nordics, specializing in helping enterprises achieve digital transformation at hyperspeed. A large factor in the company's rise to that status has been its partnership with Workato, which eSystems considers to be the #1 integration and automation platform in the world.

And Workato returns the compliment! In 2020 they recognized eSystems as one of their top partners in Europe. In fact, Workato declared eSystems to be the Best Data & Integration Partner in the Nordics.

eSystems is a part of the Workato Automation League Partner Program, which includes only companies that have "expertly implemented Workato solutions" for clients, and which are considered "the domain experts of their field; true guides on what to build, not just how to build; and raising the bar of process excellence."

iPaaS and low-code are redefining modern software application development

To say that iPaaS is here to stay is to understate the case. Platforms such as Workato are so effective at helping organizations enhance their productivity by enabling the quick creation, deployment, and upgrading of workflow automation apps, that there's simply no going back to the old ways of doing things. That's why the iPaaS market is estimated to be expanding at a CAGR of 41.5% between 2016 and 2021.

An important driver of that growth is the surging use of low-code software development, which Gartner expects to increase by 23% in 2021 alone.

That's why the partnership of eSystems and Workato is so significant. iPaaS and low-code are literally revolutionizing modern software development, and the collaboration between these award-winning companies is a driving force in that transformation.

As the foremost expert in the Nordics in using the Workato platform to build and deploy business-critical low-code apps, eSystems Nordic is well positioned to help your company advance to the next level of marketplace effectiveness.
